My commentary essay on the Digital.Visual.Material: STRUCTURES symposium was published on lattice.space. In this piece, I suggest that histories of computational abstractions and first-hand accounts of embodied experiences presented in the symposium challenged the dominant, squarely-fitted and universal narratives of design computing. By revealing a much messier reality behind computational structures, the panelist and participants, together, suggested possibilities for more honest and accountable technological futures.
